He Schooled at the college of Pontlevoy, France and joined the Congregation of the Holy Ghost at Orly, France in 1902. He then served as a missionary to Saint-Louis, Senegal in 1903. His health suffered and he returned to France in 1911. At the request of Bishop Jalabert, he conducted a fund-raising campaign to build a cathedral in Dakar, Senegal and promoted the structure as a way to honour Africans who had died for France and Frenchmen who had died for Africa. After losing her husband, she became very active in sheltering clandestine Roman Catholic priests, which was illegal in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Finally arrested, she was condemned to death and executed at Tyburn for harbouring a Catholic priest. The Roman Catholic Church declared her a martyr, and Saint Paul VI canonised her in 1970.
